PAGE NOTES
"Grim grid": R. Crumb titled one of his fiercer, rantier underground comics "Grim Grids." But aren't most mainstream comics too?
Tehura's self-portraits as she sphinx-dances her protest against, well, straightness, may look familiar to fans of both Planetocopia and the World Dream Bank. Over the years I couldn't figure out how to present A Sphinx's Sketchbook as a whole, but I did post this page as a sample, and use some of Tehura's more striking poses as illustrations elsewhere.
