Eydie Gormé's Dream Party

Dreamed before 19xx by Carl Linkhart
www.carllinkhart.com

Eydie Gormé stopped by for a housewarming party

last night. She was the real pizazz of the party.

Steve Lawrence chased Pat Boone into the kitchen to

trade a couple of recipes. Eydie's laugh was spiked by

a birdlike yelp. She was telling Sinatra--or was it

Dean Martin?--what a cut-up that Sammy Davis, Jr.

was. Sammy joked about a misunderstanding about

what scat-singing meant. "Is that a scatological

term?" I brought out a mechanical parakeet carrying

some sort of rodent on a parachute and finally got a

laugh: The old para-chute/para-keet/para-shoes joke.

Eydie's shrill laugh bellowed out. The '60s are so

groovy, baby!

'Eydie Gorme's Dream Party', a dream painting by Carl Linkhart.

EDITOR'S NOTE

In the book, the picture seems badly washed out; this scan (spontaneously) came out much darker. I split the difference and can only hope it somewhat resembles the original painting.
