TALL UNICORN
1990/2/20. Primitive (only 64 colors!) digital nondream picture-poem by Chris Wayan
Since I've been seeking out, talking with, and turning into unicorns a lot in the last few years, I feel mad when I see the co-opting of a powerful shamanic symbol that is my self-image. The blandness of modern unicorns has older roots: the Christian church deliberately inverted its meaning from sacred sex, wildness and healing to purity and chastity.
I need the old wild meaning to define myself, as others have needed (and reclaimed) maligned symbols like gay, black, woman, anarchist, witch.
