Silky Crosses the Atlantic

Dreamed 1982/8/24 by Chris Wayan; 1994 acrylic based on 1982 ink sketch.

After I fled my batterer, I was afraid to love. I might give up my freedom again, grateful for mere gentleness. I mistrusted the lonely girl in me--till one night, I met her!

I dreamed a catgirl named Silky was sailing alone across the Atlantic, bringing animal rights to the Old World. Braving the Atlantic Rift for freedom! My battered girl is not so fragile.

I can trust her, I can trust myself, to love.

Just as I am.
