This image bewilders me; I'll mix sex with warmth, silliness, grief, almost anything but spookiness. Sexual abandon (as 19th century writers called it), when you let go till you're almost in a trance... do the owls embody that? Is that ferocious focus how carnivores can tear apart and swallow still-living things?
