He Looked Sourly
Dreamed Nov. 24, 1582 by John Dee
Saturday night I dreamed that I was dead, and afterwards my bowels were taken out and I walked and talked with diverse, and among other with the Lord Treasurer who was come to my house to burn my books when I was dead, and thought he looked sourly on me.
EDITOR'S NOTE
I just laughed when I read this. John Dee (the best-known wannabe-wizard of the Elizabethan Age) loses his life, his guts, his precious collection of arcane books... and what really gets him is a guy looking at him wrong. "What, don't you like me?"
