Marcia Pagels: Art Gallery
WOOD
Trees fascinated Marcia, particularly the intricate fractal shapes of oaks and similar trees enduring California's summer drought. She preferred borderlands, groves and tree-dotted hills to deep forests, though you'll find some of those here too.
She spent much time in Yosemite Valley, but never painted its cliffs, falls, meadows or woods. She told her daughter Erica "They're too well-known, too iconic. People just see the names--El Capitan, Vernal Fall, Half Dome--and don't see the colors or shapes any more."
This is the memorial online gallery for Marcia Pagels, 1930-2010. 100+ works are still missing. If you know of one not shown, please email Chris Wayan, wdreamb@yahoo.com
